case study, National Trust for Scotland

The National Trust for Scotland is a conservation charity established in 1931 in order to protect and promote Scotland’s natural and cultural heritage for present and future generations to enjoy. The organisation has a wide remit to care for the cultural, built and natural heritage of Scotland.

The challenge

The Trust wanted to create a specific web presence to raise wareness and support for the long-term care of Scotland’s mountains and required the swift development and deployment of a fully functioning and integrated content managed website, one that met key organisational deadlines and stringent corporate technological and business needs and the demands of multi-device and browser access.

The solution

Using the envisage content management system, IADigital were able to build and publish a fully functioning, integrated, social media and SEO focused, device responsive website within four weeks of the agreement of the Trust’s requirements. envisage has focused on making its interface intuitive and functional so that users with just basic knowledge of word-processing can be productive almost immediately.

Similar to most Office software, envisage features a true in-context What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) website editor allowing both technical and non-technical users to quickly become familiar with the system.
Because envisage uses industry-standard .NET and SQL languages developed by Microsoft to ensure confidence in its robustness and flexibility,

IADigital’s developers were quickly and easily able to build custom functionality that was specifically tailored to NTS’ needs.

The results

oneweestep.org was launched on the 23rd May 2012 providing a fully responsive, multi browser/device online experience to visitors with almost 14,000 unique visitors in the first three months of go-live.
With envisage also providing a WYSIWYG editing and administration toolset, NTS are able to build on this core offering by creating, updating and publishing multiple types and sources of content quickly and easily, confident that envisage manages the website presentation and delivery to those wishing to find out more about an important objective of the Trust.

“Envisage gave us the system we needed to meet the demands of our campaign. We can update and create new content quickly to ensure our site stays fresh.”

Amy Gunn, Direct Marketing Manager National Trust for Scotland.
